080131 - horta e wetland funcionando 4 (clique para ver as imagens)

A horta está indo muito bem, assim como o pequeno SAF. Alface e flores compartilham o mesmo espaço com tomates, mamões, feijões.
Ficou pronto o banner Gaia Terranova, que aparece na imagem acima, mas que mudaremos de local, pois onde está é pouco visível da rua.
A wetland tem sido um lugar de muitos aprendizados. Outro dia senti que cheirava um pouco ruim e horas depois o cheiro já não estava presente. A diferença entre um e outro era que a água estava abaixo da superfície do sistema.
Hoje novamente o odor característico estava presente e novamente a água estava aflorando, formando pequenos lagos no sistema. As plantas parecem amar o espaço, visto que crescem rapidamente com a disponibilidade de nutrientes.
Planejo intervenções para eliminar o cheiro, mas antes quero acompanhar um pouco mais a relação nível da água e odor.

080131 – Kitchen garden and wetland 4 (click to see more images)
The kitchen garden is growing strong, as well as the tiny Agroforest System (AFS). Flowers and lettuce share the same bed as tomatoes, beans, papayas.
The banner advertising Gaia Terranova is ready (see image above). We plan to change its place though as it is hardly seen from the street.
The wetland has offered me substantial learning. The other day I felt bad smell coming from it, but hours later the smell had disappeared. I concluded that the odor is present when there is water on the surface of the tank.
Today, the wetland was giving off a distinctive odor and the water was on the surface of the tank creating small puddles. The plants seem to be in their natural habitat, as they grow quick and strong due to the availability of nutrients. I plan a few interventions to get rid of the smell, but first, I need a better understanding of the relation water level-odor.
