Vitor trabalhará conosco esse mês. É ele quem tem feito os serviços de recuperação de janelas e vitrôs. Agora está trabalhando na recuperação de algumas peças de peroba rosa que ficarão aparentes no telhado da frente, que não tem laje.
Usaremos placas de OSB no forro, sobre peças de eucalipto rosa aqui da região.
As madeiras recuperadas ganham nova vida. Seus veios aparecem para contar as histórias do crescimento e desenvolvimento da árvore que lhe deu origem. Árvore centenária quem sabe. Muito provavelmente aqui mesmo da região, já que as peças devem ter lá seus 50 anos de idade. Remontamos assim, quem sabe, uma história de 150 anos atrás, quando toda região era coberta de matas e o povoado de Itajubá se tornava vila, com o nome de Boa Vista de Itajubá, em 1848. Essas madeiras viram então a chegada da Escola Federal de Engenharia - EFEI, hoje Universidade Federal de Itajubá, no início do século 20. Viram a chegada das indústrias, algumas de ponta.
E verão as casas ecológicas e habitats sustentáveis se tornarem referência em moradia num futuro bem próximo!

290208 – Renewing wood works– before and after

Vitor is working with us the whole month as he is in charge of renewing decayed windows and timbers. He is now polishing pieces of noble wood which will be used in the front roof and will be visible. OSB wood panels will be used to cover the roof tiles. The renewed wood gains new life. The wood grains seem to tell stories of the growing and development phases of their mother trees, possibly one-hundred-year old trees, who knows. They are likely to be from this region, as they look 50 years old or more. Therefore, they retell stories from 150 years ago, when the entire region was woodland and the village of Itajubá was called Boa Vista de Itajubá, back in 1848. These trees witnessed many happenings: the implementation of the Engineering School for Higher Education – nowadays Federal University of Itajubá, in the early 20th century; the arrival of industries, some of them state-of-the-art. And in a near future they will also witness ecological houses and sustainable habitats becoming reference for a sustainable way of living!
